● UK's ‘Unlawful’ Net Zero Strategy ●

What a month! We have sweltered in the UK’s first red extreme heat warning as temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius for the first time, reflecting the highest temperatures ever have been recorded globally. Wildfires have been raging in parts of Europe, the US and even here in the UK. It isn’t quite over yet but it has been the driest July in England for more than a century with less than a quarter of the average rainfall whilst, Down Under, 50,000 Sydney residents have recently evacuated homes to escape the third floods this year in Australia’s largest city. The need to act has never been greater!

UK's ‘Unlawful’ Net Zero Strategy

If this wasn’t enough to make people sweat, a landmark court judgement has just ruled the UK government’s net zero strategy is in breach of the Climate Change Act as it doesn’t explain how targets will be met. The high court has ordered the government to outline exactly how its net zero policies will achieve emissions targets.

The legal challenge was brought by Friends of the Earth, the Good Law Project and ClientEarth, a previous Global Good winner - James Thornton, ClientEarth’s founder and president, won the Outstanding Individual Leadership Award in 2018 when CEO. Read ClientEarth’s response to the news.

The Global Good Awards programme is blessed to have sponsors and partners with a wealth of expertise. If you have questions about how you can improve sustainability in your business, whether it be net zero strategy, supply chain, ESG or compliance, for example, please learn more about them on our Sponsors & Partners page.

Welcome Levin Sources and Seacourt

We are honoured to have two new sponsors joining the Global Good Awards for 2022. They boast some heavy credentials between them.

Levin Sources is a new sponsor for the supply chain category but Estelle Levin-Nally, their founder and CEO, has been an integral part of the GGA community since becoming a judge last year. Learn why here.

Seacourt Printing returns to sponsor the Best Campaign of the Year category. A multi-award winner themselves, Seacourt is the highest scoring printing B Corp in the world and recognised by B Lab as the ‘Best for the World’ in their environment category last year. Learn more about Seacourt here.

Join the #GlobalGood Revolution with Event+

Continuing the theme, it is never too late to become a sponsor! We have introduced a new sponsorship package for organisations who become sponsors later in the year (and already have two new sponsors as a result). The rate may be reduced but the benefits are plenty. Read about the Event+ package here.

Finalists Championing Finalists

In true Global Good spirit, the CEO of one of this year’s finalists, Fair for You, has written an article not only about their delight at being on the shortlist but also how inspired they are by their fellow nominees. Fair for You is a finalist in the Community Partnerships category.
